Good Morning CFTP Members,

What a week of memorable and fun WODs. 😉 Rest those shoulders and be ready for next week. I love seeing our gym growing so fast. It is so good to see so many people ready and willing to put forth the effort to change their lives.  I also love the willingness of our members to share their stories with their friends and help them make that change in their lives as well. With that being said I must emphasize the importance of signing up online. This will be a requirement in the near future for you to be able to come and WOD. For equipment purposes and to ensure all members get enough individual training as possible I am limiting classes to 12 members. From time to time this number may be extended depending on the WOD. We offer 7 classes a day and so if the class you prefer is filled there are other classes with less people. Plan accordingly.

Last week I had mentioned the importance of cheering each other on and have seen a huge difference. We are becoming a family of fit individuals and it is so fun to see. The cheering on of our fellow CrossFitters is a must and I want to thank all the members for making CFTP a fun and encouraging place to train.

This weekend I will be participating in the Elevated Utah CrossFit Games representing CFTP. I hope that come this time next year we will have some of our members ready to represent and join competitions such as this. It is a great opportunity to see where you stand and to push yourself. Anyone who may be free on Saturday at 9 AM you should head over to Timpanogos Harley Davidson and watch these athletes perform. It should be a fun day. I will do my best to represent and make you all proud.

So now onto the member spotlight. I am honored to spotlight Amber Kaye Smith. Amber is a dedicated and strong CrossFitter. I have been with her from the beginning when she started at CrossFit Cedar Ridge. She came into the gym not knowing what to expect and I am sure not knowing the massive effect it would have on her life. Her outlook on life and her energy has changed drastically. I have seen a change not only on the outside but on the inside. She is a walking billboard for CrossFit. She has lost more than 160 pounds since she has started and she is constantly improving. Her journey has been very fun to watch and I am so happy she has allowed me to be a part of it. Here is what she has to say about her CrossFit journey:

Never in a million years did I think that I could make such a change in my life.  I hate to admit it, but I had accepted the fact that I was a happy fat girl, I always got ready, I always looked tolerable but I had accepted the fact that I was never going to be one of those fitness people.  Well… That has all changed.  My sister opened a crossfit gym and asked me to come try it out, many people thought I would quit within 3 weeks. the community in CrossFit envelops you and you can NOT get away.  That feeling when you complete the wod that you thought you would never make it through, the constant encouragement that comes from cheering CrossFitters as they sweat their fat away too. NOTHING is BETTER,nothing can push you to believe you can like seeing it for yourself… DOING IT for yourself.  07/16/2012 marks my one year mark when I joined the miracle which is crossfit.  I am 31 years old and I have lost 162.2 lbs.  NEVER had i experienced anything harder, NEVER have I worked SO hard at something in my life…. BUT NEVER have i seen such results and felt better about who I am and what I look like and most importantly HOW I FEEL!  Crossfit is more mental for me, the results of the weight loss are satisfying and enough to get me to stay but the real gratification for me is the Mental “I CAN DO ANYTHING” that has come from doing crossfit.  I would set little goals for myself week after week and hit them all the community the “family” of crossfit makes this possible.  I have had the most wonderful trainers at Crossfit Cedar Ridge as well as a whole family of people that believed I could do this and shared in my little victory’s that have now become a large accomplishment.  I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for helping me GET MOVING and believing I could when I had accepted my unhealthy lifestyle.  One day in particular, It was “Griff” and I was on my last Run backwards 400 meters and I had quit in my head, one of my trainers Matt watched this happen as I was running  he saw the change in my head of the I’m not going to finish mentality, this is to hard…. I quit….. he jumped right up and he ran it with me…. NOTHING has made such an impact to me in crossfit then that moment because I was done…. and from that moment on I knew that I could do anything because I KNEW that if I just took one more step I would be one more step closer to the finish and I would have that satisfaction of knowing that I did it.  I have millions of stories similar to that one with all different people that have impacted me during this process its an amazing community.  Dan was opening his gym in bluffdale and I was excited to support him and join his gym, it has been the best choice for me, his training has brought me to a whole new level of crossfit he is amazing and works hard to help us achieve the results that we are looking for.  So here is my plea…. START NOW…. GET UP…. GET MOVING…. ONLY YOU CAN MAKE THE DECISION TO LIVE HEALTHIER, LIVE LONGER…. FEEL BETTER.  No matter your age, no matter your weight, no matter your fitness level, crossfit is for you.  Everything can be modified to fit your skill level and your fitness goals.  Thank you to all those that helped me accomplish my dream of living healthier.  and for those that are unsure…. I BELIEVE IN YOU!  Start Now!!
