CrossFit The Point New Year 6 Week No Sugar/Paleo Prep Challenge
Where: CrossFit The Point
When: 12 January 2013 – 23 February 2013
Kickoff will be on Saturday 12 January 2013 @ CrossFit The Point at 10 AM.
What: This challenge will be a combination of body fat loss, WOD Improvement, and a point system.
Why: You have made the decision to change your lifestyle by doing CrossFit. With this challenge you will take your training to the next level and change your eating lifestyle. This challenge is to help prepare you to transition into a Paleo Lifestyle.
We all have come into the New Year with goals in mind. Our goal at CrossFit The Point is to make sure you all stick to those goals and provide a fun and friendly competition to keep you on the right track. In this competition we will begin by taking our body fat percentage on kickoff day. From that day on we will be responsible to ourselves and those at the gym to stick to the guidelines.
The first week we will perform 2 performance WODs to set our benchmark for the competition. We will repeat these same WODs 6 weeks later and the one with the greatest improvement will win one of three pots of cash.
Throughout the competition we will be required to keep track of good days and also whether or not we completed a WOD that day. For each good eating day you will get a point and for every day that you WOD at CrossFit The Point you will get a point. You can acquire a max score of 12 points per week; 7 points for good eating days and 5 for WODs. We only allow 5 points for WODs to insure that our body is getting the rest days it needs.
For each individual that completes a full week with the full amount of points they will be entered into a drawing for a prize at the end of each week.
So at the end of six weeks the pot will be divided into three categories and we have the potential for three separate winners. These are the three categories:
- Total percent of body fat lost.
- Total points accrued throughout the competition.
- Most improvement on benchmark WODs.
This is going to be more than just a fast from the sugars as we think of them. Sugar is hidden in almost all of our foods and it is up to us to insure that the food we eat throughout this competition does not have sugar in it. Sugar is known by many names including but not limited to the following:
In addition to cutting out these sugars you must avoid and eventually do away with breads and carbs that are not a part of the Paleo diet, which include but are not limited to the following:
- Fruit juice
- Bread made with white flour
- Pasta made with white flour
- Soda pop
- All baked goods made with white flour
- Most packaged cereals
The point of this challenge is to prepare you to live the Paleo lifestyle without discouraging you. During this 6 week period you will cut out these few bad calories and then be able to easily transition into a Paleo lifestyle without too much shock to the system.
More specifics will be explained on Saturday, 12 January 2013, at the kickoff to this challenge. Sign up during this week and plan on starting your healthier lifestyle immediately.
