Good Afternoon CFTP,

My heart is full with all the support in the SGT Derek Johnson Fundraiser WOD yesterday. I love our community and all the willing people in it to help make a difference inĀ  the lives of those in our community. It was a great event with many donations. We have 10 more shirts at the box that we would like to sell for the family of Derek Johnson. Be sure to ask about them when you come in to workout this week. Thank you so much for all those who helped with equipment and with the setup of this event. We couldn’t have done it without you. I want to give a special shout out to Taryn Culverwell. He was partners with SGT Johnson and because of you we were able to bring this community together in the honor of a great local hero. I know how much time and effort you put into this and I want to say thank you. You are a great example of the creed I learned while in the military, “Never leave a fallen comrade.” SGT Derek Johnson will never be forgotten and thanks to you we were able to be a small part in honoring him yesterday.

While all this was going on we had another competition that we as CFTP were heavily involved in. That was The Teen Gauntlet. Our teens, Delaney Dangerfield, Maya Dangerfield, Keagan Barnes, and Ciara Barnes all competed up in Idaho at this event and dominated. We still have yet to get official results from the event because we are waiting on some other locations to finish up today but I am so proud of these kids. They work so hard and put in so many hours at the gym. They are all so inspiring to me and I love having them at The Point.

Now, onto this week. We have the biggest event that we, as a gym, have ever hosted. We are hosting The Festivus Games this coming Saturday. This event has attracted people from all over the area. I am very excited about this and can’t wait to see you all in action. Online registration for this event is now closed. I am still accepting registrations at the gym. Please get your registration done as soon as possible this week. If you are not competing in this event please come and volunteer. In order to accomplish a successful event I am going to need everyone. I will have a sign up for volunteers up all week at the gym. We are going to need judges and equipment movers. I know I can count on you to help us out. The event will fun from 8 AM until the early afternoon.

The reason I am most excited about this event is because I have seen such amazing progress from all of you and I want you to see it in the form of a competition. I know that we are strong and I know that we as a gym are ready to take this competition on. This competition is the best competition I have seen out there for the newbie. It is a perfect competition for a first competition.

One more thing this week. I am going to be starting a weekly skill for all of us to work on every day during the week. The skill this week is going to be THE DOUBLE UNDER! So bring your ropes and let’s get those double unders figured out.

If you have questions about what The Festivus Games are, you can go to http://www.ezevent.com/Live/FestivusGamesatCrossFitThePoint/10192013/81083 and check out the movements. We also have a flyer hanging on the wall in the gym with specifics.

Thank you again for everything you do. I am so lucky to be a part of your lives. Thank you for sharing your talents and your generosity with our community. You are what makes CFTP a truly special place to be.
