Good morning CFTP,
This picture above really explains my feelings this morning and the feelings I’ve had throughout this week. As I was outside completing my second set of 200 meters of burpee broad jumps everything just clicked for me. I remembered. I remembered what CrossFit is all about for me. I remembered why I started doing CrossFit and why I wanted so badly to open my own box and share it with other people. I was able to reflect on the past 2 and a half years that The Point has been open and to see just how far we have come, good and bad.
CrossFit to me is more than just a fitness program. It is more than just a business. Many times when you open a business into something you love you forget why you did it. You forget the passion you had for it. I am guilty of this for sure. I allowed outside forces, negativity and inner pride get the best of me as The Point grew to where it is today. For this I am sorry.
My goal for everyone I have the pleasure and opportunity to coach is to see you successful. CrossFit is a way that we can build up our confidence and not only get physically stronger but mentally stronger as well. It’ isn’t about whether you Rx the workout. It doesn’t matter if you are the fastest in the gym or the strongest. It’s not about the competitions that we compete in. Those are all just ways to get us to push ourselves. It is about us overcoming the demons deep inside of us. It is about coming into the gym and giving your all. Giving your 100%. I don’t care if your Rx your workout or not. I don’t care if you even compete! All I care about is that you have a place to call home. All I care about is that you are progressing towards your goals. YOUR INDIVIDUAL GOALS.
As I read through the surveys that you all completed this past week I realized that maybe this feeling has been lost. I realized that perhaps I got lost and got a little sidetracked. I appreciate all the comments and advice you all honestly provided. I first want to apologize if at any time while at The Point you ever felt less than a valued customer and athlete. I want you to know now that each one of you whether you have been here for 2 years or 2 months is an important part of this gym. Your influence and personality are what make The Point special. When you don’t come in I notice and our trainers notice. When you are having a crummy day we notice. You are the reason The Point was created.
I wake up everyday at 4:30 AM to see your smiling faces and to watch you succeed. It’s not a job for me. It’s way more than that. So as I compile the results from the survey I will guarantee you this; your voice will be heard and we will revamp where we need to. My goal is to provide a place that you can be proud of and that you can bring your friends and family and share what you have come to love. I want you all to feel welcome and safe. This is an opportunity for me and for the CFTP staff to reflect and adjust our aim.
One of the first things that will be changing is the programming in hopes to provide you with a more consistent method of progressing towards your goals. I am collaborating with our awesome training team to come up with a program where you feel successful and where you progress as you need to. Bear with us as we revamp these various aspects of the gym.
Without you there is no CrossFit The Point. Stay positive and work hard. That is all I ever expect from you. Don’t let outside forces lead you to believing you are anything but awesome. We are on this road together. We cheer each other on in this crazy thing we call life. We don’t cut each other down. We don’t talk behind each others’ backs. We must stay positive because there is already enough negativity in the world. The Point is our safe haven where we can be ourselves.
I really do love you guys and I am here for you. As soon as this becomes a business for me I am done. I am not ready for that to happen. Thank you for staying true to me and to our team here at the gym.
Stay strong. Stay healthy.
