Good Afternoon CFTP,

First off I want to thank all of the volunteers that stepped up and spent the day with us yesterday to put on the Teen Gauntlet. It is so amazing to have such willing people that give up of their time to help. I showed up at 7 AM yesterday morning and Sheri had already come and gone and cleaned our front area and bathrooms, Steve Arnoldus and Tyson Hymas were in sweeping the floor with Coach LaDee. As the event began we had Sasha come in and help judge and of course the amazing Delaney running the judging and scoring. Tara and Ryan pitched in by helping with the entering of scores and judging when needed. Coach David did an amazing job, as he always does, at MCing the whole event. We had our awesome DJ come in and do a great job as usual. My wife Emily stepping up and judging… And of course Michelle Mika Cavender working the camera! Also all the people who came and supported and helped clean up after the event. It was such an amazing experience.

I want to give a special thank you to our Coach LaDee. She was in charge and ran this event like a seasoned pro. Everything was organized and ran smoothly. Teens from all over the state came and participated and were able to come in and show us their fitness in an atmosphere that promotes positivity and hard work ethic. We are lucky to have such a dedicated Coach as we do in LaDee.

It is so cool to see these young athletes succeed and work towards these goals. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a young person get off the couch and get active. Now days with how the world works young people are becoming less active. I work with a group of 11 and 12 year olds and the other day we went to get the swimming merit badge. In this merit badge the kids are required to throw a round life preserver 25 feet and pull in their “drowning” friend. I remember 20 years ago when I had to do this same activity with my group of friends and within 15 minutes all 10 of us had successfully completed this portion. It was very eye opening to me to watch these young boys attempt and fail time and time again to complete this task.

CrossFit has come in and can do amazing things for these young competitors. It is so awesome that we have the CrossFit Kids classes going on at The Point. We are so lucky to have Coach LaDee lead this. The confidence these young people can gain from physical activity in a motivating atmosphere is something that cannot be gained anywhere else. My hope is that we as parents take advantage of this amazing opportunity. Get your children active early. There is so much out there for them to do. Kids and teens need physical activity in their lives. They need to be motivated and pushed in a positive direction.

Once again, thank you all for everything you bring to The Point to make it a safe environment for us to succeed.

Coach Dan
