Good afternoon CFTP,
I am so proud of all of you doing the Lurong Living Summertime Challenge. I hope all is well. Don’t forget to continue to mark down your meals and also to record your workouts. Only 3 more weeks to go. Almost half way. The stricter you are the better the results!
Tomorrow we all have the opportunity to do the famous workout “Murph”. I know when many of you see this workout all you see is the two miles of running with a whole bunch of pain in between but I want you all to take another approach to this workout.
The origin of Murph comes from the now famous actions of Michael Patrick “Murph” Murphy who was a United States Navy SEAL officer who was awarded the U.S. military’s highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions during the War in Afghanistan. He sacrificed his life for his fellow SEALs and saved the life of Marcus Latrell, AKA The Lone Survivor. If you have not had a chance to watch “The Lone Survivor”; rent it tonight and watch it before coming and commemorating his sacrifice by doing “Murph” tomorrow.
I love hero WODs. I love being able to research and remember those who sacrificed their lives for the lives of those they love. I love being able to remember the lives of these people all year round. Whenever we do a hero WOD I think it should be our goal to do some research on the life of that man or that woman before we complete the WOD. Their lives deserve remembering and their sacrifices deserve to be honored.
See you all tomorrow and Happy Memorial Day,
