Programming Update
We are now entering a new strength cycle. Here's what you have to look forward to:
Strength: (Week 1)*Part 2 (6 weeks):-
This strength cycle focuses on the in-between lifts of Olympic lifting. We want to develop a proper setup during the descent and transition to overhead movements during these six weeks. Athletes will work up to heavy sets and hit singles within specific percentage ranges. The overhead lifts and squatting volume will be higher than usual, so please, scale to Power or take the weight down for newer athletes or anyone who may need a break.
Days labeled "Work up to a Heavy" mean we want to see athletes reach a top weight (within their limitations) in 5-6 working sets.- On days with the strength, we will focus on keeping the workouts shorter (under 15 minutes) to allow for more coaching time. We will alternate the days of strength for this cycle to help members that don't have a consistent class schedule.
Twas The WOD Before Christmas 8
Our annual competition is finally here! This Friday and Saturday we will have gyms from all over come in and compete. We also have a good number of our gym mates who are competing.
I am in need of volunteers to help with setup and with judging. The more we have the better the experience will be for everyone. So if you are available for any of the following times, please be sure to jump on the website and sign up as a volunteer:
Shifts:
Friday 5-8 PM (I will be setting up starting at 1 PM if you are able to come help during that time)
Saturday 7-11 AM
Saturday 11-4 PM
And anywhere in between. Even if you can only spare a couple hours, it would be helpful.
This also means that we will be canceling Friday evening classes and all of Saturday classes and there won't be any off hour access during these times either.
Olympic Lifting Class
Starting next week... I will be hosting an Olympic Lifting club of sorts on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7 PM. I will be running this class but I will also be participating. We will be working on the Olympic Lifts. I am ready to personally start building my lifts back up and I would love to have as many of you join me as possible. We will be doing it through the month of December and then when the Kids classes return in January we will figure out what to do going forward. So for the month of December, come and join me for our CrossFit The Point Barbell Club! **Must be an unlimited member to participate.**
