Good morning CFTP! Excited to be back and ready for February!
2025 CrossFit Open
Coach JoAnn explains the open below!
It’s that time! The CrossFit Open. The once-a-year competition that measures our fitness and our progress from where we started to where we are now. 3 workouts over 3 weeks, with a fun added throwdown just for The Point members. Here are a few points on how it will run this year:
Point 1: SIGN UP!
This is what sets this competition apart from your day-to-day workouts. Investing a little more shows it means a little more. These workouts are different. It’s worth it!
You can sign up now through games.crossfit.com for $20*, or you can sign up for just an in-house competition at CFTP. This will also be $20, and you sign up here OR, you can donate an item that we will raffle off that is worth the same amount as an entrance fee (more on the raffle below! JoAnn will be your contact point to donate to the raffle). Once you are signed up you will be put on a team, so this will be both an individual and competition.
Point 2: T-Shirts.
Completely optional this year. Some of us love them, some of us say we have enough (is that possible?!), so they are being sold separately for $25. These orders start this week and end on February 14. Here is the link to order your T-shirt!

Point 3: Friday Night Lights (FNL).
Each week of the open we will host a FNL where we will get the workout in, have judges, and be cheered on by others doing the same thing. Some of my favorite memories have been at these nights. Fun themes, some snacks, and great people. Pictures are taken during the workouts so we don’t forget any of it.
Point 4: The Raffle.
Each week we will be raffling off items that have been donated (as mentioned above, to replace the entrance fee) and items that have been purchased with the money collected. You earn tickets by accomplishing items from a list that will be posted the week before the open begins. Tickets will be passed out at FNL, and you must be present to win.
I can’t wait for the Open to begin, and to test my fitness with all of you at the best place there is!
*CrossFit is doing something new this year: The Community Cup. It is taking place after the Open, and you will be competing against athletes that placed similar to you in the open. If you are interested in this, you need to sign up online through games.crossfit.com.
Level Method Testing
We have decided to do create a new way for us to provide opportunities for each and every one of you to test your levels throughout the year. We will continue to do a full 2 week test in the fall of each year. This is super important in my opinion to keep us up to date of where our levels are but it can really throw a wrench in our programming if we do it more than once a year. Therefore, we have decided to add two "floater" tests each week for athletes to choose to do to retest your levels. At any time during the week, you may test these to try and level up or to just test to see where you currently stand.
This week the floater tests will be UPPER LOWER ENDURANCE and UPPER BODY PULL. These tests will be added to the Monday slate of workouts but can be completed any time throughout the week. For those of you who are new, I recommend finishing all 15 of your tests up as soon as possible. So each time we introduce these floater tests, do them. If you have questions, feel free to ask your trainer and they will explain how the tests are performed.
I am excited for the month of February and the start of the open. Some of my best memories comes from The Open. Without fail, individuals who sign up achieve some sort of personal record. It's a fun atmosphere and I believe the plan JoAnn has put forth above is going to make this year very memorable.
