Good morning! I get to announce some exciting results from the latest Dexabody Side Hustle! So let's get to that first!
2021 Dexabody Side Hustle Quarter 1
The 1st quarter challenge saw some huge changes for our participants. We had only a handful participate and only one winner from the Male and Female categories but I'm going to mention the 2nd place results too because they would have been your winners in past challenges.
Female Winner - Emily Adamson
Our 2021 Dexabody Side Hustle Challenge for the females is none other than my wife, Emily! She had a percentage of change of 21.2%! Within these results she was able to gain 4.9 pounds of muscle while losing 10.9 pounds of fat! Congratulations Emily!
Honorable Mention - Alicia Deibert
2nd place goes to Alicia with a body fat percentage change of 19%! Almost got her! Within this change she saw a 5 pound muscle gain and we were able to witness that change with her performance over the past few months with not only her first Ring muscle ups but also her first Bar muscle ups. It's awesome to see the results not only in the composition of the body but also in the performance on display.
Male Winner - Caleb Deibert
I think Caleb not only won this quarter but also set new records when it comes to percentage of change and final body fat percentage. Really impressive stuff here! Caleb went from a 15% body fat all the way down to 9.4%! A percentage of loss of 37.3%!!! Within this loss he gained a whopping 7.5 pounds of muscle while losing 10.3 pounds of fat. I have asked him to tell us about his journey and you can read about it below.
Honorable Mention - Brent Ramey
Brent would have won on any other quarter with a change of 23.5%! Within this change he was able to not only gain 2.5 pounds of muscle but also lose 13.8 pounds of fat! Incredible.
2021 Dexabody Side Hustle Quarter 2 - Team Edition
With quarter 1 behind us, we set our sights on quarter 2. I really believe we are going to see epic changes with all those who are participating. We have 37 people participating! WOW! This has already surpassed any dexabody challenge we have ever ran. Myself, Zach and JoAnn drafted teams this past Wednesday night and we are ready to go to battle!
Even if you aren't officially in the challenge, use the motivation from your box mates and make changes along with us! If you want to read more about the challenge, you can click here.

Caleb Deibert's journey to 9% body fat
I figure you all hear enough from me so I asked Caleb to share his experience in this journey:
Caleb Deibert:
"I’ve been going to CrossFit for 8.5 years now, over that time I have joined many different weight loss comps, eating challenges, etc. Creating a habit of going to the gym consistently came pretty easy, my diet was always a challenge and I always kept telling myself I could outwork my bad diet....
At the end of 2018 I found myself at my heaviest weight since starting CrossFit and knew I needed to make some long term changes in my diet. Some of the guys that I office with approached me about doing a body fat loss comp alongside the 1st quarter 2019 gym fat loss challenge. I joined knowing this would give me a push to get started on making these changes. Over the course of that 90 day challenge I went from 33% body fat down to 23%. At the end of the challenge I remember thinking to myself that I could make a decision to either go back to my old ways of eating (which is what I had always done in the past after a comp), or I could commit myself to another 90 days of continuing to eat healthy and see if I could make these diet changes turn into habits. During the next 90 days I was able to go from 23% down to 15% at this point I was 6 months in and a lot of these changes had started to feel like routine habits to me. Through the end of 2019 I was able to continue losing weight/fat and ended the year at 13% after starting the year at 33%.
2020 brought us some surprises to say the least, my goal for 2020 was to stay consistent with my nutrition and not give up all of the progress that I’d made in 2019. Fast forward to the end of 2020 and that same group of friends wanted to do another side challenge alongside the gym for 1st quarter 2021, I was pretty nervous when I got my starting dexa scan at 15% and almost quit thinking how much could I really lose. I decided that I would make a few more tweaks to my diet and try and be even more consistent than I had been over the past few months. 90 days later and I finished the first quarter by dropping down to 9.4% body fat.
The biggest takeaways I have learned over the last 2 years are;
-It’s never too late to start, but you have to start
-Consistency is key, you can make up for months or years worth of bad diet habits in a few days/weeks.
-You can’t be 100% everyday, there will be times that you can’t stick to your nutrition plan perfectly, do the best you can, reset and start fresh tomorrow.
-Find a goal that motivates you
-Making changes with friends/team makes it so much easier!"
